Well after much to-do and comparison I purchased a proper camera last week! The idea of buying one had been playing in my mind since I visited the Newseum in DC last month, and listened to photographer Joe Sohm talk about his work, and the stories behind his work. Sitting listening to him it hit me that yes infact a picture can tell a thousand words. Photography reaches out to everyone, even small children can relate to a great photo. Which brings us to photojournalism...
I'm still no sure what exactly photojournalism is, but I think I want to be part of it. I've racked my brains to come up with the difference between what a photographer does, and what a photojournalist does. And I think the answer lies in this; a photograph is just that.. a flower, a child, a landscape. A photojournalist does the same but there's an underlying point or story behind the photograph that s/he is trying to capture. So with that in mind I went out to Times Square last night to try to capture the essence of it...
