Well I truly feel like a New Yorker at this stage, and really hope I find a job to keep me here for the next while! I got my state ID in the mail the other day so I'm an equal citizen! WAHEY!
We had some snow overnight on Thursday morning but nothing like the weather being experienced back home. There was a lovely covering of snow every where on New Years Eve which was promptly made clear by gritters! Anticipating this snow I had made a trip into Manhattan to get some snow boots, as all my footwear is totally unsuitable for snow! So I got these super cool snow boots, granted I waited around for about an hour in Macy's to get them but soooo worth it.
Worse though was hearing Irish accents in Gap, never ones to miss a bargain in NYC, they sounded like they were in Supermarket Sweep... something that went like this...
Mary look at this, it's for nuthin!
No c'mere the queues to pay are huggge, we'll come back in the mornin when it's quieter, c'mon we gotta keep movin!'
Town was sooo busy, worse than I'd ever seen it before, but the decorations everywhere are so pretty, this is the inside of Macy's...
Anyway, unfortunately after I got home from shopping I seemed to suddenly come down with a dose of something severe, but unknown. Alas I spent New Years Eve and New Years Day sniffling and sneezing and generally not doing much. It definitely would have been fun to go into Times Square for the ball drop but I'm told you've to be there by lunchtime to get any view of it at all. So I watched it on TV with a glass of wine instead and waited for inebriated texts to make their way to me from home! I got some good laughs from those!
Ha!! I didn't know I was being used as comic relief.
