A lot of February was spend wading through snowstorms, and it seems to have been a particularly bad spell relative to recent winters. On the final day of February we've had three substantial snowstorms in three weeks. Each resulting in 'snow days' for schools and offices. Friday morning was definitely the worst so far. Wednesday into Thursday had been a horrible mix of snow, rain and wind; the snowflakes were huge wet creatures that stuck to everything. Then on Thursday night a beautiful fine snow fell and coated the slush, about ten inches fell overnight.
I'm currently working off Wall Street in a financial firm, in their marketing department. It definitely hitting the deep end of the Wall St buzz! However I'm happy to be on the marketing rather than the deritives side of it all.
Living in Queens has been good, but I'm moving at the beginning of April. Hopefully back to Brooklyn as I'm a sucker for the brownstones and the leafy suburban feel; something Queens lacks. The commute takes an hour door to door, which isn't bad, but considering how quick it is to move about NY that's actually quite a trek. So I feel across the river from my work is better for reducing the commute and enjoying living in NYC a bit more.

We've found 'our local' in the city anyway, and plan to frequent there at weekends. Definitely a good mix of local and off the boat Irish. We head to a different pub on the Upper East Side to watch the rugby in and that's been fantastic fun on a Saturday morning. Yesterday's victory at Twickenham was brilliant, and having a few pints first thing on a Saturday morning with other expats is just surreal but one of the high (unique) points of the expat lifestyle!
One of the great things about NYC is the availability of interesting things to do that don't involve the pub! Last week myself and Ais went to the Apple Store in Soho to listen to (the beautiful) Matt Damon and very talented director Paul Greengrass. All free and very relaxed. This week Lisa Kudrow of Friends fame is appearing so might head along to that!
